Scenes from the Weekend: Volume 4

Tuesday, February 04, 2014

A day late, but I was still moping around about the Broncos' no-show at the Super Bowl on Sunday.  Just kidding...

I think these are from during the week, but it was too fun not to share in the "weekend" post - Claudius gets a Bark Box every month and one month it came with this meatball mix.  We finally got around to making them and he loved them!  The batch made about 60 tiny (teaspoon-sized) meatballs) so he's been getting some good treats to keep himself busy.

One morning towards the end of the week Claudius definitely did not want to get up.  Usually he will burrow under the covers to keep himself warm, but on this particular morning, he didn't care.  He just kept half of himself under the covers.

Seattle got itself ready for the Super Bowl!  Technically Bellevue, but whatever.  It was great to drive around and see all the 12s everywhere and feel the excitement in the city.  Clearly Expedia didn't mind Richard Sherman's comments!

I had ordered some Baked by Melissa cupcakes for the Super Bowl - they were offering special Broncos and Seahawks cupcakes, and since those are two of our favorite teams, I figured I might as well get some.  They did not disappoint!  (Separate post coming soon.)

On Saturday I doubled up on Pure Barre classes, taking my regular Saturday morning class and then going to the Cosmopolitan "Fun, Fearless & Fit" event at the new Capitol Hill location.  They had promised free goodie bags and the class was free as well, so I sucked it up and went into the city to attend.  The class was taught by the owner, which is always a great class, and I did get the promised free goodies - a Cosmo magazine, a bottle of Fiji water, a Fiji water straw (hard plastic straw with a cap that you can screw onto the Fiji water bottle), a Rembrandt whitening system (teeth trays, fluoride rinse, toothpaste), and some Mary Kay lip gloss.  Honestly...just an OK goodie bag - I was more excited about the free class and getting to see the new studio!  I gave the Rembrandt stuff to Marek because whitening stuff hurts my teeth.  As soon as I got home Claudius had to check out the bag and give it a sniff of approval. :)

On Saturday night we went to the movies to see The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug one last time.  I am still trying to figure out how I got Marek to see this movie with me again!  We got dinner at Red Robin first and thought we had plenty of time and then realized that the movie started 15 minutes earlier than we thought - whoops!  We figured the movie would be empty, but it was pretty packed.  Full of people who talked for a good part of the movie (WTF!) and made a ton of noise eating snacks.  One of the worst movie-watching experiences ever...and we had to leave a movie theatre in Poland once due to a bomb warning...so that should tell you something!

So here's something interesting I discovered this weekend - the lululemon I went to was giving out snack-sized packs of Skittles (thanks, Marshawn Lynch), and I ate them during the movie.  My favorite Skittles are the purple/grape ones.  The green/lime ones are my second favorite - or should I say, WERE my favorite.  Apparently the green Skittles are now green apple!! When did his happen?  And this is definitely NOT the "Original" Skittles, so nice try.

On Sunday we went to our friends' house to watch the Super bowl.  Here's what the little cupcakes looked like.  Broncos on the left (orange frosted ones) and Seahawks on the right.

When we got home on Sunday Claudius and I spent a few minutes being sad about the Broncos' loss...not too much time though ;)
