Things that Got Me Through the Week

Friday, February 11, 2011

Can I tell you, this has been a rough week. But in the spirit of Friday and the weekend, I'm sharing some things with you that helped get me through the week.

This song, coming up on my iPod on my run home.  Okay, maybe I skipped ahead to it, but still.  I love finishing my run to this song.

This song, on my iPod in the house all day long, while I'm working. I LOVE this song. It's a little long, but I think it's so incredibly beautiful. It has such a haunting quality to it. Love, love, love. If you have the time, please check it out.

(If you're a little more time conscious and can't spare the almost-20 minutes (which is a shame - find the time), then the song was also featured in Master and Commander, so here's the slightly pared down version of the most stirring part.)

THE X-MEN FIRST CLASS TRAILER DROPPED YESTERDAY. So my love for all things Transformers (seriously, I was lying in bed the other night and reading Twitter or doing something or other, and everything other thing I read brought a Transformers quote to mind. I might have a problem, but I think we all already knew that) is well documented, but I'm also a huge X-Men fan.  No, I have not read the comics, but I did watch the cartoon a little when I was kid.  Unlike a lot of people, I liked X-Men 3, and I'm very excited about this movie.

I am going to bake some blondies this weekend. And then I will probably eat all of them myself because Marek doesn't like blondies, but clearly he's the one who's losing out here, because blondies are AWESOME.  I don't know what kind of weirdo doesn't like blondies.

Marek got me this super cool purple phone.  I tweeted that I would get an iPhone if someone bought me this I wanted one, so he surprised me and ordered it for me - in purple, too, hooray!  Now I just need people to call me.  I don't really like talking on the phone, but this thing is so fun!  And I don't have to get an iPhone, phew.

This little fatso.  He's been at daycare for the past two days, so I've gotten a much-needed reprieve from his guilty eyes, longing stares, weary sighs, and BEGGING for the past couple days.  I do miss him when it's time to take a break and I need a hug though.
