Weekend in Pictures: Volume I
Monday, January 13, 2014
I'm going to try to at least recap what we did around here on the weekends by just grabbing some of the pictures from my phone. We'll see how long this lasts!
First up, cheating a little, as this picture isn't technically from the weekend...I think it might be from Thursday night. Wait, just checked, and it's actually from Wednesday night. Definitely not part of the weekend. BUT I did make fresh pasta on Wednesday night. My mom and aunt bought "us" (me) the pasta roller attachment for the Kitchen Aid stand mixer (off our registry). It rolls flat sheets of pasta and then has two other attachments to cut into spaghetti or fettuccine. I was a little worried at first (previous attempts at making pasta have come out so-so), but the Italian in me couldn't resist and soon we had ourselves a huge batch of spaghetti. It was delicious and I can't wait to experiment with more flavors and types of pasta.
Claudius demonstrated his steely begging resolve by trying to stare down Marek while the latter ate the homemade pasta with (store bought) meatballs.
This receipt is from a week ago (so I guess it'd be part of Volume 0 of Weekend in Pictures?), but I didn't get around to Instagraming it until this weekend. I'm still loving this great deal I got! We were looking for a bin of sorts for storage and I wasn't feeling the $25 rope baskets, even though they were wicked cute. I checked out the clearance aisle for the Christmas stuff and happened to come across this pretty red metal tub. No price tag, but the price checker revealed it was just $1.99...marked down from $19.99. 90% off??? Thank you, Target!
And now we are on to this weekend. Some shots from Instagram - it was grey and overcast most of the weekend. We woke up on Saturday morning and it was pouring out - nice noisy rain, so loud it even woke us up, and we both agreed that we loved it. Nothing like a good rainstorm!
For Pure Barre class on Saturday morning I wore my new red pants with my yellow rain boots, which made things a little brighter. I am loving these pants too! I had seen the PB owner wearing them on the PB studio's Facebook page so tweeted at the studio asking if they had anything like them. She ended up emailing me herself saying she knew what pants I was referring to and even offered to bring them over to the location I go to for me. Such great customer service and another reason why I love this PB studio!
We did some toy clean-up this weekend and all of Claudius's hedgehog toys (we call them all "Booda" after the company that makes them) came out to play. It's hard to see in the picture, but "Original Booda" is in the middle. He's been sewn back together multiple times and is totally "blind" thanks to Claudius's ripping his eyes out. I think he has eight Boodas total (found one after this family portrait was taken) but it's just a small portion of his toys. Spoiled dog!
Last picture is Claudius himself hiding under the bed. That is his spot where he goes to hide and he likes to sleep under there. A couple weeks ago we got him this new pad so that the area under the bed is a little softer for him.
This weekend we did watch a lot football. For the Saturday games, we were definitely cheering for the Seahawks, we were very much divided on the Colts/Patriots game (as you can see below - poor Claudius, always caught in the middle), we rooted for the Panthers, and we cheered on the Broncos (although I was sad to see Philip lose - AGAIN). All in all, quiet afternoons with some chores, general cleaning, and a walk thrown in.
Friday night we did watch a couple of movies - "How to Train Your Dragon" (so cute!) and "She's Out of My League" (much funnier than I thought it would be). Sunday night we watched an episode of South Park (note that "The Hobbit" episode is NOT about the hobbit! I was tricked!) and Claudius ate treats off my stomach while I played games on my phone. We'll try to keep it a bit more low-key next weekend. :)
