Sunset Hike up the Great Blue Hill

Thursday, July 01, 2010

Last night Marek and I hiked up to the top of the Great Blue Hill to watch the sunset. I didn't go running, so I figured I should get some exercise, so off we went! It was actually a quick and fairly painless hike to the top (unlike some of the other hikes we've gone on, which have resulted in lots of whining and crying on my part), and we made it to the top just to see the sunset.

The view from the top of the Great Blue Hill is really nice - it's pretty high up and gives you a nice view of the surrounding area. It was a really nice evening, and the sky was all sorts of shades of clear blue and pretty shades of pink and purple. Here's a view of some of the south shore.

We brought Claudius with us, too. He is actually a great little hiker (and much better than me, haha). He runs ahead the whole time and I'm always amazed how he manages to find ways up and around huge rocks. The cutest thing he does is if I'm lagging behind, he'll turn and look at me, making sure I'm still coming, and then when I get close enough, he runs off again. So cute.

We were trying to get a picture of Marek and Claudius together, but he didn't want any part of taking pictures, and refused to look at the camera.

I did manage to get this picture of him with the sunset. He was kind of restless at the top, but we had a nice time watching the sun go down.

Claudius got a little chilly, so we made him put on his little jacket. These jackets are so cute! They are from Old Navy and are called "Jacket in a Packet", and they're these lightweight, but lined, jackets for dogs that fold up into a pocket in the jacket. I ordered one to try it out, and we ended up ordering him a couple more, so we can keep them in the car. He's not a big fan of clothes, but he is also very picky about the weather, so this works really well.
