New York?

Tuesday, August 10, 2010

So as I said last week, Seattle is a no-go...which is fine, really. We spent the weekend with some friends and family, and I know it'd be hard to move all the way across the country, so I'm mostly glad that didn't work out.

However, now we might be moving to New York City, the one place I always said I couldn't move to (well, that and the dirty, racist South...and probably Asia...and Aruba...okay, so I lied, there's many places I don't think I could move to). There's an opportunity that's presented itself, and we're trying to figure out what to do.

Career-wise, it's a no brainer. Money-wise is a completely different story. Aside from the fact that NYC cost of living is generally expected to be higher anyway, we were looking at a major downsize if we stay where we are - a downsize that would have resulted in a lot of savings for us, and moving to NYC would not only negate that savings, but completely obliterate it.

So now we have a tough decision to make...stay where we are (physically and metaphorically) to save or relocate and potentially struggle financially for awhile to move ahead in the long-term.

Any advice?
