No Seattle...for now
Thursday, August 05, 2010
So we found out this morning that we're definitely not moving to Seattle (for now, at least). I don't think we were very surprised - okay, well, I was actually kind of surprised - and at least we know what's going on now.
I have mixed feelings about moving and not moving. I was honestly looking forward to a change of scenery. We're young, we don't have children (although that little bratty dog certainly feels like one sometimes), and we don't have a house - now seemed like the best time to get out and do some exploring. Neither one of us has ever been to the West Coast (okay, I went once, but it was only for a couple days), so we were looking forward to the adventure.
What we weren't looking forward to though was leaving all of our friends and family behind. The summer is always a mixed blessing - we get to see our friends a lot but at the same time we're always on the go. Obviously hanging out with our friends so much lately has made us realize what we'd be leaving behind. I'm sure we would all stay in touch, but it'd be hard to see them much less often. (And contrary to what the other day's story about Airport Chris might have led you to believe, it's not exactly easy for me to make new friends.)
We weren't looking forward the move itself (and we still have to move, and I'm still not looking forward to that), but we were looking forward to driving across the country. We love road trips, so we may end up driving across the country anyway, just because. In the meantime, there's plenty of fun stuff going on this fall to look forward to! :)
